What heads west: jobsite equipment, industrial machinery, structural steel, modules and prefabricated materials. What comes back: farm machinery, oil and gas equipment, wood products out of British Columbia. As with the Maritimes, the price hinges on what can be found for the return, and that is where the carrier network earns its keep.

Every province crossed applies its own weight and dimension limits. A piece that is legal in Ontario may need a permit in Manitoba and an escort in Alberta. We assemble the permits province by province before departure, not en route.

The mountains add a constraint of their own. The British Columbia passes (Rogers, Kicking Horse, Coquihalla) close without notice in winter and require chains for much of the season. We build those windows into the schedule we quote rather than discovering them on the road.
